Some Tips to Have the Perfect Picnic in And Around Freeport

Spring is finally here, the sun's coming out, and it's getting warmer, so wanting to enjoy the outside is natural. And few things are as enjoyable as going to a park and enjoying a nice meal with friends, family, or even by yourself.

We're going to give you a few tips and things you have to keep in mind if you want to have a picnic and make the best of this spring in or around your Freeport apartment.

Pick your spot

You can have the perfect food, the perfect company, and the perfect weather, but none of that matters if where you're going is overcrowded or dirty. You should look for a spot with plenty of grass to work as a cushion, natural shade, and free room for your pets and/or kids.

It's also important to check the weather before going! You don't want to be caught outside with an umbrella. In that case, you should stay indoors and make the best of your nice-and-comfy pet friendly apartment near Defuniak Springs.

Keep it simple

It is okay to enjoy a full five-course meal with unlimited refills, but maybe a picnic is just not the place for that. You may have to walk a long way to have a good spot or there might be a bit less room than you expected, so having fewer things to set up will let you have an easier time before, during, and after the picnic.

A nice place we recommend near Freeport is Chipley Park, a very pleasant place to rest and hang out for a while.

Pack right

Keep it compact. Keep in mind that most of the things you take will eventually have to come back with you, so make sure you only pack what you need. Ideally, it should fit in a backpack or cooler that you can carry around with little difficulty. Oh, and don't forget to take a couple of plastic bags so you can throw all the trash away when you're done.

Pick your foods

Two words: soggy sandwich. Not exactly appealing, right? Sometimes it's a better idea to take the ingredients to the picnic and prepare the dishes there, especially if they're better eaten fresh. If you don't want to deal with that, consider cold foods that you can keep in a cooler. Here’s a list of some delicious, easy picnic food ideas.

A word of advice? Freeze some water bottles and put them in the cooler. It'll help you keep the food cold and you'll have something to drink when you're done.

In short, planning is essential. Keep in mind where you're going to go, who you're going with, and what you want to eat during your picnic to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. It may sound a little complicated, but you can use a checklist to make sure you're not missing anything!
